The Hochkonig ski area has over 150km of trails, 39 lifts and almost as many mountain restaurants. The runs are varied, challenging beginners through to experienced skiers, with some great off piste and tree skiing as well. However it still remains undiscovered by all the tour operators, leaving you & us our own winter play ground, with no lift queues! The ski piste is 50m from the chalet.
Hochkonig means "High King" and this is the name of the 3000m peak that dominates the region. The snow record is impressive, as the region sits in a snow hole with the Hochkonig mountain ranges to the north; this gives fantastic conditions year in and year out. Also, unlike most French resorts, the ski slopes are on alpine grass not rocks, this means you can ski much earlier and there is less likely to be any damage to your equipment.
In case the snow fall takes a break at any time there are 110 snowmakers and 200 snow lances to ensure the best conditions possible.
